Ash vs Evil Dead; Season 2, Episode 1: Home 30m
Total Points: 6 – (Opening Weekend Madness Special)
Homages to the movies, gratuitous blood and gore and Ash one-liners all episode long make this the best episode yet.
10/10

Stitches (2012) 1h, 26m
Total Points: 6 – (ATB: Clown kills and goes on a violent rampage at the party, all while in costume)
Vulgar, funny and gory.  This was a good first film to the Madness.  I’ll watch this again.
7/10

Dead Silence (2007) 1h, 29m
Total Points: 3 – (2 Base Points + 1 Bonus Point: What you’re watching has a TOY, SIGN, MEDIA, POSTER with the LIKENESS of Any CLOWN, JOKER, or FOOL – Clown Doll/Dumby)
Dead Silence flies under the radar and doesn’t get the love it deserves.  It’s fast paced, scary at times, and Mary Shaw is plenty creepy.  This is much better than I remember upon the first viewing.
7.5/10

The Funhouse (1981) 1h, 36m
Total Points: 5 – (2 Base Points + 3 Bonus Points: What you’re watching TAKES PLACE in a TEMPORARY CARNIVAL, TRAVELING CIRCUS or BOARDWALK Amusement park. (Setting is a traveling/temporary carnivalP & If what you’re watching has a SEQUENCE INSIDE a DARK RIDE, SEASONAL WALKTHROUGH, FUN HOUSE or MIRROR MAZE.(Many scenes and climax take place in the fun house & What you’re watching has a TOY, SIGN, MEDIA, POSTER with the LIKENESS of Any CLOWN, JOKER, or FOOL (Many clown dolls, manequins, posters of clowns in and around the Funhouse)
A classic of the genre, and something that has grown on me, but not my favorite from the era.  This is still one of Hooper’s best outside of TCM.
7.5/10

31 (2016) 1h, 42m
Total Points: 6 (ATB – Clown(s) commits homicide, Clown goes on violent rampage)
This was about what I expected.  It has the usual Rob Zombie look and feel, some of his go to talent and of course his wife starring.  I enjoyed this more than most of his movies and I think this is probably his best since Devil’s Rejects.
7.5/10

Clowntown (2016) 1h, 26m
Total Points: 12 (Opening week special)
An abandoned town plagued by killer clowns waylays a group of friends heading to a concert.  Not too bad for a direct to video release.
6.5/10

Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988) 1h, 28m
Total Points 6 (ATB  – Clowns on Violent Rampage, Clown is killed, Circus tent explosion)
This was the first movie I thought of with this challenge.  It’s not scary at all, but rather silly.  Still, it’s a classic cult movie that everyone should see at least once.
7/10

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) 1h, 23m
Total Points 2 (There is no clowning around in this movie)
This is a top 10 horror movie of all time.  Gritty without being gory, although it often gets mentioned as being a very gory movie.  Watching this before going to the Grand Opening of The Gas Station from the movie.
10/10

Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings (1994) 1h, 28m
Total Points: 2 (No bonus points)
Direct to video sequel that doesn’t have the charm of the original, Stan Winston’s FX or Lance Henriksen.  It’s still better than a lot of DTV sequels.
6.5/10

Supernova (2000) 1h, 30m
Total Points: 2 (No bonus points)
Pretty solid story and cast, but it just doesn’t have the same juice as Event Horizon or Alien.  Definately a 2nd tier Sci-Fi / Horror hybrid.
7/10

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated S2E1: The Night the Clown Cried (2012)
Total Points: 3 (ATB: Clown goes on a rampage; Crybaby Clown terrorizes town throwing explosives)
This is not my Scooby Doo, but is still pretty good. There are 2 amazing nods to the horror genre, a speech by Crybaby Clown that is lifted from Quint in Jaws and a zombie donut shop called Dawn of the Donuts.
6.5/10

Live Event: Grand Opening of The Gas Station in Bastrop, TX
Total Points: ?
The gas station from Texas Chainsaw Massacre was restored and is now a gift shop with cabins you can rent.  They also show horror movies on the weekends.  For the Grand Opening, Ed Neal and Ed Guinn were there and there was BBQ and Chili!
