The Mummy (1932) 73m – Always have to get in a few Universal classics this time of year. While The Mummy doesn’t rate as high as Frankenstein or Dracula, this is still a great movie.

Rating: 5 out of 5 Scrolls of Thoth

Points: 2 Base Points

The Wolf Man (1941) 70m – Another Universal classic and one of my favorites.

Rating: 5 out of 5 Silver Canes

Points: 2 Base Points

Dead and Buried (1981) 94m – From the writer of Alien and FX by Stan Winston?  How can you go wrong?  It also stars a pre-Freddy Robert Englund. This is one of my favorite Nasties to date.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Nasty Worthiness? There are some pretty graphic scenes, but it lacks the some of the grittier elements of the other Nastys.

Points: 6 – British Video Nasty List – ATB

Tenebrae (1982) 110m – This is my favorite Argento movie.  It’s not quite as artistic as some of his other movies, but it moves at a faster pace as well.

Rating: 5 out of 5 gloved killlers

Nasty Worthiness? Also some very intense kills (an axe to the head and some missing limbs) but lacks the truly nasty stuff.  I think the climax probably lead to it being on this list.

Points: 6 – British Video Nasty List – ATB

Inferno (1980) 107m – Argento lets loose his full color palette here. This is a very creepy looking film with a great climax.  I will be rewatching this one soon, as I find that some of Argento’s work takes multiple viewings to really absorb.

Rating: 4 out of 5 Witches

Nasty Worthiness?  I don’t think so.  I didn’t see all that much here that would land it on the list.

Points: 6 – British Video Nasty List – ATB

Halloween (1978) 91m – Another required tradition in our house.  Classic movie started the slasher craze of the 80s.

Rating: 5 out of 5 William Shatner masks

Points: 2 Base Points

Halloween II (1981) 92m – While it loses some of the charm of the original, this is a fitting sequel.  I like how it starts right where the original stops.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 William Shatner masks

Points: 3 Points – 2 Base Points plus 1 point for Eye Gouging (Myers stabs the nurse in the eye with a needle)

Halloween (2007) 109m – Remaking a classic is a tough task.  I really disliked this originally, and still don’t like the opening sequence where Michael is a child, but after he grows up, it’s actually a pretty good movie.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 remakes

Points: 4 points – 2 Base Points plus 1 for rape scene (in the sanitarium) and 1 for full frontal nudity.

Oasis of the Zombies (1982) 86m – I love zombie movies from this era, even the bad ones, but this one is really bad.

Rating: 1 out of 5 zombies

Points: 2 Base Points

Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) 88m – Michael Myers makes his return and Danielle Harris makes her debut.  Not a bad sequel.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 William Shatner masks

Points: 2 Base Points

The Walking Dead; Infected (S4E2) 60m – Interesting twist with the Flu bug.  Can’t wait to see who is sabotaging the prison.

Rating: 5 out of 5 walkers

Points: 2 – 1 Base Point, plus 1 for Eye Gouging (a couple of zombies take a shot/stab to the eye)

Blog Post: Piranha II – James Cameron directs this pretty awful creature feature.

Points: 2 Base Points

Halloween 2 is one of the best horror sequels ever!

Your “1 out of 5 zombies” rating for Oasis of the Zombies is quite generous!

I love the idea of Oasis, but it is just dreadful. Yet, I’m still drawn to the latest Blu Ray release of it because the cover is just awesome. I’ve got issues!
