2-Headed Shark Attack

Directed By: Christopher Ray

Starring: Carmen Electra, Brooke Hogan, Charlie O’Connell, Christina Bach Norman, David Gallegos, Corinne Nobili

Subgenre: Creature Feature

Synopsis: A group of college students spending a semester at sea are terrorized by a giant 2-headed shark.

Thoughts: I can’t explain the need to watch these movies, but I do know that I am not alone in enjoying these direct to video monstrosities that feature mutated creatures running amok.  The production values are always bottom of the barrel and the acting is atrocious.  You can often find washed up actors (Carmen Electra) or siblings of pseudo-successful actors (Charlie O’Connell) and it seems you can expect that the size of the aggressor will change to fit the scale of the scene as needed.

So, the acting; it doesn’t feel right actually talking about whether or not the actors were any good in a movie like this, so I will say that Carmen Electra had plenty of scenes featuring her best assets as she lay on the deck of the boat and Brooke Hogan’s immense shoulders spent plenty of time dueling with her fake boobs.  There is a bit of nudity to be found as well, but to be honest, I really thought there would be more.  College girls in bikinis tend to preclude such things.

The Director, Christopher Ray is the son of Fred Olen Ray, who is a very familiar name to fans of B-movies.  It looks like Chris is following in his father’s footsteps after delivering such beauties as MegaShark vs Crocosaurus, Almighty Thor and 2-Headed Shark Attack.  He’ll have to get a little busier if he wants to catch up to dear old dad though, who has 126 titles to his name (according to IMDB).

One of the most laughable aspects of the movie is how the shark changed size with frequency.  At times, the students could pick out the shark fin from a far distance and then the shark suddenly eats three people in thigh deep water!  This phenomenon is not exclusive to this movie though, I’ve seen it many, many times in similar movies (looking at you MegaPiranha!)

If you’re brave enough to push play on 2-Headed Shark Attack, you know what you are in for.  This is not a good movie, but it is pretty fun.  It requires the right combination of beer and friends to enjoy, but if you have that on hand, give this a shot and have fun.
